NAWIS hails Falconets, Okagbare

THE Nigeria Association of Women in Sports, through its president Gloria Obajimi, has commended the Falconets for their performance at the FIFA Under-20 Women’s World Cup in Canada
.  Obajimi stated that the silver-winning team showed exemplary discipline and commended coach Peter Dedevbo for the good work he did with the team.  The NAWIS boss said, “They missed a lot of scoring opportunities against Germany but they put up a good account and showed that they had the skill to become better players in future.”  “The players should not be discouraged that the Germans defeated them in 2010 and in 2014 finals. They will get there in the nearest future. The experiences they have garnered will guide them through,” she said.  “I also celebrate our women who were exceptional in their performances at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, which was our best outing so far. We commend Blessing Okagbare, who won the women’s 100m with a new Games record of 10.85 seconds and 200m gold. Ese Brume’s outstanding performance that won her Gold medal in women’s long jump event is also commendable.
