The Nigeria Custom Service has impounded a trailer full of smoked meat allegedly said to be monkey meats being imported into the country through the Jibia border in Katsina state.
The Nation reports that NCS Federal Operation Unit “zone B” led by OC of the team, Assistant Comptroller, Gambo Azare deemed the seizure of the trailer loaded with monkey meat necessary due to the Ebola rampage in the country. Topping many of the reasons also, is the knowledge that the NCS has about monkeys being one of the major source of the deadly Ebola Virus Disease.The Nigeria Custom Service, which is alive to joining hands with the government and citizens at large to curtail the pawns of this deadly disease immediately set the monkey meats on fire, destroying it, under the supervision of the Comptroller, Federal Operation, Zone B of the service, ATS Maina and the deputy governor of Katsina State represented by the Commissioner for health.

Furthermore, AC Azare made it known that the body that regulates foods in the country, National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC), directed that the intercepted monkey meat was directed to be destroyed within 24 hours as delay can be injurious.
It would be recalled that just recently, an American Doctor has claimed he has the technological remedy to Ebola.
